Anna Afshar – “As long as I can remember, I always liked art. My mother
fostered appreciation for all forms of it. I grew up in Lithuania and Russia,
and my childhood was filled with trips to galleries, symphony halls and
theaters.
I started taking watercolor classes in Indianapolis with Jo Ann Cardwell, and
have had the opportunity to travel and take workshops from other well
known and recognized watercolorists such as Joseph Fettingis, Frank Webb,
Jean Grastorf, Diane Maxey, James Toogood, Betsy Dillard Stroud. Alvaro
Castagnet, and David Taylor. I feel like I am growing as an artist every day
and still developing the style of my very own. I admire watercolors that are
spontaneous and free, and infuse the viewer with a feeling of what they
see.”
Roseanne Crowell has always had an interest in art, from her earliest years
with crayons and paint sets, to decorating grade school classrooms, but she
seriously began to focus on her art once her children were grown. Mainly
self-taught, she has taken a number of classes and workshops, and has
painted with a variety of notable artists while travelling across the country
and back.
Roseanne works in pastel, watercolor and oil. Her subjects range from
portraits of pets and/or their people, wildlife, floral and nature scenes. Her
work has been recognized in several county fairs, the Indiana State Fair, the
HCAA Fall Show Peoples’ Choice Award, The Art Sanctuary “Paws and
Picasso” Show, Hoosier Salon Merit Award and acceptance in the Hoosier
Salon 2011 Annual Show.
Roseanne enjoys trying to capture the essence of God’s creations and
sharing what she sees with others.
Justine Kaldahl is a self-taught artist and has long been interested in the
arts. Having flown as a flight attendant for several years, she gained a vast
appreciation of the diverse cultures, and an appreciation of the influence it
has had on her creativity.
Justine is a published poet, and recipient of several awards under various
media, including pen and ink, air brush and charcoal. She feels she has an
artist's soul, and is most content when creating. She is very much looking
forward to honing her skills in acrylics and oils, and elated to embrace the
opportunities and blessings that God has in store for her in the arts
community in the future.
