It has taken me a long
time to allow myself to
pursue painting with
any real commitment.
After graduating from
John Herron School of
Art with a degree in
Visual
Communications, I
worked in the graphic
design field for 12
years. Then I devoted
the next 13 years to
raising two children
and an assortment of
animals. At the height
of our hobby farm we
had a zebra, 4
wallabies, 2
wallaroos, 20 pygmy
goats, 3 miniature
horses, 1 shetland
pony, 1 appaloosa
mix, 1 mammoth mule,
1 mammoth donkey, 1
standard mule, 2
miniature donkeys, 1
miniature mule, 2 pot
bellied pigs, 1 90lb.
sulcata tortoise, 1
bunny, 12 dogs, 6
cats, peacocks,
guineas, pheasants,
pigeons, finches,
roosters and hens,
turkeys and 3 emus.
Due to the untimely
death of my husband,
I was forced to find
homes for most of my
prized animals. I now
have 10 dogs, 5 cats,
1 sheep, 1 pot bellied
pig, 1 miniature mule,
1 bunny, 2 emus,
peacocks, guineas,
pheasants, pigeons,
finches, roosters and
hens. I work in oils,
painting from photos I
take of my animals in
their natural setting
and from observing
them in the barnyard. I
know each animal’s
personality and try to
reflect that in my
paintings. I feel
privledged to be able
to share my animals
with my viewer.
