Rae Marie Crisel grew up in Kansas, and moved to Indiana as a biochemist for Eli
Lilly and Co. She and her husband, John, both retired from Eli Lilly in 2000, and Rae
Marie is now pursuing her dream as a painter and ceramicist. John and Rae
Marie raised three sons, and also operated a 300 acre farm north of Zionsville for
many years.
She began her pottery education at The Art and Clay Studio in Santa Fe, NM, and
collects antique Native American Pottery.
Rae Marie feels a close connection to nature from her farming experience, and
her Kansas heritage. These have become an inspiration for her art.
Her functional pottery collections reflect her country heritage. She uses texture
and surface applications to create a rustic feel to her pieces. She features
natural colors and images such as wheat, and sunflowers on her themed series.
Her pottery studio is located at 150 W. Hawthorne St., Zionsville, IN 46077.
She can be reached at criselcreations@gmail.com, or at 317.873.0018.
