Photographer
I have been enamored
with the taking of pictures
for the better part of forty
years. From the
excitement of the first
slides taken with my
35mm rangefinder camera
in 1968 to the magic of
digital images, the
adventure continues. I find
myself drawn to the
water, to the subtleties of
the sky and the sun.
Without really consciously
making such
determinations, my
compositions/exposures
tend to take on an
ethereal quality that brings
great satisfaction to me.

In the past two years, I
have been fortunate
enough to enter the world
of medium format
photography. It has
opened up a vista of
resolution, depth, and
clarity heretofore unknown
to me.  Moving back to a
totally manual camera has
rekindled skills I thought
had long since become
extinct. Focusing manually,
setting the aperture
manually, makes each
exposure a project. It’s
great fun to be totally in
control again. I love to just
“step back” and truly think
about what I am about to
do. For me, it has become
the essence of what
photography used to be.
For me, it has sparked a
creativity and a challenge
that truly excites me every
time I load a roll of film
into the camera.
