April Willy’s first memory of making art occurred when she was about three years old. She
borrowed her mother’s lipstick to create a ‘masterpiece’ on the closet wall. April has been
passionate about drawing and painting ever since.

After graduating from Herron School of Art, April became an advertising and editorial
illustrator. She spent almost 20 years working for local and national agencies before her
increasing interest in painting changed her artistic direction.

April now considers herself equally divided between being an illustrator and a painter. She
enjoys the challenge of retelling an author’s story visually, but relishes having total creative
control in her fine art. April has completed seven children’s books and is currently working on
her eighth. Her fourth book, Three Cups has sold over 15,000 copies and is available at the
gallery. April has been in over 30 juried art ompetitions/exhibitions and has won several
awards, both locally and nationally.

April is a member of the Hoosier Salon and the Indiana Artists Club. She also shows her work at
the Dean Johnson Gallery on Mass Avenue, Gallery One36 in Westfield, Magdalena Gallery
of Fine Art in Carmel, and The William & Joseph Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

April lives in Carmel, Indiana with her husband Scott who is a partner in an
advertising/marketing firm and who also designs modern furniture. They have a son who is an
English major and a daughter who is majoring in Public Relations and Marketing.
